T-LOC 4

I really like the look of this rocket with the T shaped fins. It was easy to put together and it held together very well for my Level 1 certification. I only had one of the T fins partially crack on the landing, but not enough to disqualify me. I do wish I had thought ahead and put a 38mm motor mount in this rocket and I could have used it for level 1 and level 2 certification. Also I wish I had used a Jolly Logic Chute Release. I used an Aerotech H169 motor and set the parachute ejection timing based on Rocksim. The timing worked perfectly for the chute to come out at apogee, but that chute carried the rocket about 3/4 of a mile away. Having a chute release would have allowed it to drop straight down and then deploy about 500 feet or so above the ground. Enjoyed putting the rocket together, I got some good pointers from Youtube on assembling this rocket and from people in my local club. It was fun painting it and watching it go out of sight for its level 1 cert.

I’m getting The Loc IV for Christmas for my JR L1 cert, and I’ve never used epoxy before (just wood glue) and also rail buttons. I wanted to get something similar to the Loc Iv with this just being 10 inches shorter, so I can see what kind of challenges come up. Also, $85 is a good price for a 4” rocket. Highly recommend!

It cam with a beat up nose cone but LOC got it replaced in around 3 days have not flown it but I can not wait to fly it!

Easy to build. Did some minor upgrades like some tip-to-tip fiberglass and she handles ‘H’ motors just fine.
Recommend you upgrade the size of the parachute for desert landings!
