LOC-I IRIS

I bought this to try my painting skills to look like the build card. I must say it came out really great!! I have all of these LOC-1 rocket kits and love them.

The build was fun and easy. Everything about this kit is quality except the shock cord. The rocket was launched one time on a Estes C6-5. Launch went well and ejection happened at apogee. Upon ejection the Kevlar shock cord broke about 10" outside of the booster causing the booster to fall from around 800' coming to rest on hard pack dirt. The impact broke one fin loose. The rocket is repairable but I would expect the supplied Kevlar shock cord would be sufficient for at least one flight.

I have several LOC kits and the Athena kit is fun to build. Instructions are well written.All parts are well made. This should be impressive to watch fly.

I wanted to build the small Iris before started the giant Iris, so my students will have a great idea as to what they are looking at this school,year. It was a fast and easy build that was actually fun . Can’t wait to see it fly.
